Dick Fosbury Colorado Gulch Bridge Update:
The installation of the Colorado Gulch Bridge is set to begin this July, but the County has recently learned a $200,00 federal grant for the project is now at risk. Blaine County has launched a community fundraising campaign to raise $200,000 by July 31 to close this gap. The new bridge will replace the one damaged in 2017 floods, restoring popular trails and improving access to open spaces along the Wood River Land Trust’s Colorado Gulch Preserve and public lands across the river. This project also aims to honor former County Commissioner Dick Fosbury, an Olympic gold medalist and high jump legend who was a key figure in the bridge’s rebuilding efforts. Tax-deductible donations can be made through the Wood River Land Trust. If the federal funding comes back online in time for the project, funds raised will go toward trailhead improvements at the site.
