Jeff is an east coast native where he attended St. Lawrence University and Columbia Business School.  His first career was as an investment banker in NYC where he worked for several firms including Morgan Stanley and Robertson Stephens. He moved west to Seattle with his family in the mid-90s and started his own business, an online investing platform called ShareBuilder Securities. After the sale of the company to European bank ING Group, Jeff became CEO of a HR software company, which he subsequently sold.

Jeff has served on non-profit boards for the last 30 years, both in New York and Seattle, as well as numerous corporate boards.  He was trustee of the Washington State Investment Board, the state pension fund, for 15 years.  He currently serves as a director of Delta Dental of Washington, SpringRock Ventures, and the Space Needle Corporation, where he serves as Board Chair.  He is Treasurer and Finance chair on the board of KEXP radio, the best non-profit, independent alternative rock music station in the entire world.  He joined the Wood River Land Trust board in 2022.

Jeff and his wife Kim Brown Seely have long been adventure sailors and have logged thousands of miles sailing the waters of northern British Columbia on their boat “Heron.”  Kim is an award-winning travel journalist and the author of the book “Uncharted.”  They have been vacationing in Sun Valley for 20 years , bought a home here 10 years ago, and became full-timers in 2019.  They and their two grown sons are avid skiers, sailors, anglers, hikers and lovers of all things outdoors.
