Dave Perkins

Board Member

Dave Perkins joined the WRLT board in 2019.

Dave joined Orvis in the family business in 1979 and held numerous positions in the company. He managed the wholesale business, built the retail business, the adventures business of schools travel and shooting preserves. In addition Dave oversaw the rod and tackle product development and sales and was instrumental in the purchase and management of scientific anglers fly line company.

Growing up in a outdoor family and working in the industry he has had a great understanding and fondness of our natural world and open spaces and the protection and conservation of them.

Dave has served on several conservation board including. Teddy Roosevelt conservation partners, Tall timbers research and land conservancy, National fish and wildlife foundation, Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, National forest foundation. In addition supported many others through Orvis philanthropic efforts leading the efforts in TU culverts project, embrace a stream, Bristol Bay mine, smith river mine and the Everglades foundation restoration.

Dave and his wife Nancy Mackinnon whom also has worked in the conservation world and has served on many of its boards has had a second home in the Wood River Valley for 15 years.

“We have gained a great appreciation of its natural places it’s recreation and the importance of protection them as the need to creating more open spaces and access to the outdoors. I would like to help the WRLT grow along with its supports to to preserve more of its landscape, and protect and enhance the wood river.”
