Why It Is A Conservation Priority
Hyndman Creek is a major tributary of the East Fork of the Big Wood River and provides important riparian habitat for birds and fish, including the threatened Wood River Sculpin. It's close proximity to other Wood River Land Trust easements, provide an opportunity to further extend its conservation efforts. The 75 acre easement of open hillsides and flat lands are favored by deer, elk, and the wolverine, and the landowners have sighted black bear and mountain lions on their property. The hillsides give way to wetlands and the Hyndman creek, all of which are important to water conservation, flood control, and water quality in addition to providing habitat for wildlife.
