Family Fun
 | Be Outside Idaho In 2006, Richard Louv, author of the highly praised Last Child in the Woods, called for a national campaign to “Leave No Child Inside.” Louvco-founded the Children and Nature Network (C&NN) to reconnect children and nature and cure what he termed Nature Deficit Disorder. C&NN is now an international movement to give children "opportunities to experience and learn from nature during their growing year..."
In Idaho, 2009 has been designated "Be Outside Idaho - Children in Nature" year. Go to www.beoutsideidaho.org for 101 Things to Do Outside with your child. The activities are all simple yet engage a child in nature. The Wood River Land Trust supports this vital program and urges you and your child to Be Outside! |
Flight for the Land
Starting this coming July, Dr Helen Steussy and her daughter, Al, will be biking 3,630 miles from Oregon to New Hampshire to raise money for land conservation across our country.
It will take them 50 days and many thousands of feet of elevation to traverse the Cascades, the Rockies, the Black Hills and the Appalachians in their journey from Pacific to Atlantic. Tough going for two flat-landers!
They will be passing through our area on Day 10. Stay tuned for more news on their progress!
